Original acrylic painting on box canvas, measuring 24" x 20" x 2" inches depth (60cm x 50cm x 4cm). Unframed. The edges are painted. Using a lightly-stippled gesso base on the canvas as a startpoint, this gathering of flowers, including poppies and globe-thistles in a hot-weather garden, were painted in an intuitive and direct manner; crowded together as a heated mix of colour. Gold and blue metallic paint has been wiped onto the highlights of the gesso texture in a number of places, and also included in the flowers. The background is a layered mix of purples, mauves and soft red-browns.
