Original acrylic painting on standard-depth canvas, measuring 24" x 16" x 0.75 inches depth (60cm x 40cm x 0.2cm). Unframed. The edges are painted so the work can be hung as-is if wished. Motivated by the striking patterns of an iris flower, this painting uses the veins and markings of petals to create a cool flowing abstract image, in purples, deep blues, greens and touches of pearlescent metallic. The central yellow and white markings are lightly textured with paint to provide a contrast to the flat ribbons of colour. The image swirls towards the centre, disappearing into a dark blue recess and seemingly beyond the painting into another realm.
