Summer Seaview, Clevedon
Summer Seaview, Clevedon
Original acrylic painting on box canvas, measuring 20" x 20" x 2" inches depth (50cm x 50cm x 4cm). Unframed. This seaview, from a local beauty-spot, was bathed in hot 2009 sunshine, creating a soft but pulsating blue light that was actually difficult to paint. The scene tends to focus more on the water and mud-flats, the patterns formed as they slip in and out of the seawater, and the sparkling sunlight where it catches the joins between land and water. The whole canvas was treated with a light texture of gesso, with sand mixed into it. The sandbank forms were then modelled with gesso and also moulding-paste from the "Golden" range of materials. On top of this, the various blues and greens were painted for the seawater; white acrylic rubbed into pale yellow for the hazy sky; and mixes of burnt sienna, blue, white and metallic silver made up the sandbanks. I also included some washes of pearlescent sheen over some of the sand-masses.
Price: £130 including UK postage.
